"Over time, qualities such as leadership, dedication, commitment, resilience, and teamwork have become embedded in our character."
The Student Athlete Commerce Association (SACA) is a new club in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. We represent the student-athlete population and athletic minded individuals of the business school. We recognize the unique characteristics, skills, and motivations that these athletes have developed throughout a long career of playing in a high intensity and competitive environment. SACA acknowledges the value this creates for employers looking to hire new grads as time management, teamwork, and dedication are second nature to student athletes and are critical to success in the workplace. SACA acts as a community hub where athletes can learn and apply these unique abilities, as well as provide framework and support for our athlete’s job search. We strive to inspire and challenge students, across various majors and sports, on and off the court.
This club was founded by Sean Martin and Anton Bellot in the summer of 2015 with the intention of building a community for student athletes to be a part of, as well as aiding them in their search for both summer and full time roles. Sean and Anton were both student athletes at the Haskayne School of Business who recognized the unique qualities that student-athletes possess, and how critical they are to success in the workplace.
